Jessica Meir, a Caribou native, will go to the International Space Station later this year, joining two other Mainers in a very elite club.

Jessica Meir, who grew up in Caribou and became an astronaut in 2013, is looking forward to fulfilling her dream: flying – and walking – in space.

Forty high schools from across the state compete at South Portland High School.

Portland will see gusts of up to 55 mph, and power outages are likely, according to the National Weather Service.

Waterville’s Corpus Christi Parish, Jay’s St. Rose of Lima Parish two of the local host parishes to take part.
