The damage is estimated to be $5,000 to $9,000, but no one was hurt and the cause is not considered suspicious.

April and May tend to be the months when most wildfires occur, a Maine forest ranger says.

The fire, which left 34 people homeless, kills an 88-year-old man who ‘just couldn’t get out’ and damages the neighboring building.

Gary D. Marshall was cooking at the kitchen stove in his Gorham home when the fire broke out Wednesday night, authorities said.

Buildings at Province Lake Golf in York County were destroyed, but no injuries were reported.

The fire chief says it was fortunate that residents had not yet gone to bed.

Nobody was injured in the blaze, the fire chief said; the building and its contents appeared to be a total loss,.

The superintendent describes the fire, which resulted in no damage but led to the school’s evacuation, as an accident.

The first responders on the scene reported that the house was fully engulfed, but no injuries had been reported Thursday night.
