HALLOWELL — Cynthia Ahlstrin of Winthrop recently won the People’s Choice Award at the conclusion of Art 2012, the Harlow Gallery’s 17th annual juried art show. Visitors were invited to vote for their favorite work of art. Ahlstrin won a $100 cash prize, sponsored by the Animal Wellness Center of Augusta, for her sculpture “Every Shoe Tells a Story.”

This Rockport pub has mastered the small-plate menu, providing amazing textures and tastes, superb service and a casual style that masks the big-city sophistication of the food. It was love at first bite for us, long before we got to the phenomenal signature dish — shepherd’s pie.
