Presque Isle man charged with arson in Litchfield gas station fires

Robert Bowring, 39, was charged for allegedly setting fires near gas pumps Thursday night, officials said.

The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement Thursday, saying that extra caution should be taken.

The fire chief describes fire as illegal, saying the person who started it had apparently planned to burn hay that was not mowed last fall.

Maine Forest Service says the invasive species has spread this year to areas of the state never before reached.

New bill would fund more experts and programs to combat the invasive bug that strips trees and causes people to itch all over.

Containment efforts have paid off in Maine – in a record-breaking wildfire year here, the average acreage per fire is very low.
