Rainy conditions impact Maine’s holiday skiing

Ski mountains in Maine closed or warned skiers about rainy conditions Monday, although colder temperatures and snow are expected later in the week.

By the afternoon, forecasters at the National Weather Service said snowfall had ended for most of Maine, save for Down East.

The overnight storm caused power outages and canceled schools, but there was minimal flooding.

Wind gusts of 40 to 60 mph led to power outages in central and eastern Maine, but there was less flooding than anticipated from Wednesday’s storm.
