About 20 people gathered at the Margaret Chase Smith Bridges to hold up signs protesting the Klan’s reappearance in Maine.

Selectmen could take up the proposal to make it a town-maintained street during their next meeting, on Feb. 28.

Eight adults were displaced from the six-unit building after officials had to shut off power to more than 1,800 in the area.

Flames could be seen coming from second-floor windows at the house as firefighters converged on the scene.

Private way was plowed during Monday’s blizzard, but residents fear that will stop if the town doesn’t make the street a public way.
