A Wilton man was arrested Wednesday after, according to police, he was driving nearly 100 mph with his 4-year-old daughter in the car.

Kyle D. Campbell, 27, was driving 98 mph near the Chesterville and Farmington town line, passing through, and surpassing, a range of speed limits, according to Lt. David Rackliffe of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.

Rackliffe said it took a while for Campbell to pull over for Cpl. Nate Bean. The car was spotted on Zion Hill Road and drove onto Lucy Knowles Road, then onto Chesterville Road, before eventually he stopped around 7:20 a.m.

Campbell told police he was speeding because he was in a hurry, according to Rackliffe.

He said the Campbell was charged with driving to endanger because when he reportedly sped, swerved into other lanes and over curbs he was endangering his daughter and himself.

Relatives were called and picked up the daughter from the scene, he said.
