Delta Ambulance recognizes Paul Mathieu for 40 years of service

Delta Ambulance recognized paramedic Paul Mathieu, of Oakland, for 40 years of service at a ceremony at the ambulance service’s headquarters in Waterville recently.

Mathieu started at Delta in 1974 as a first responder, and recalls that the nonprofit organization operated only two ambulances at the time, according to a press release from Delta. Today, Delta operates 17 ambulances from three stations, in Waterville, Augusta and xxx, serving residents throughout central Maine, the relese said.

“It’s people like Paul that truly make the care Delta patients receive in central Maine exceptional,” said Delta Executive Director Tim Beals in the release. “I am so grateful for Paul’s dedication and years of service. He makes Delta a better place.”

The Oct. 31 celebration in honor of Mathieu’s service included for Delta employees, family, and friends.

Jolicoeur named COO of Assistance Plus

Jillian Jolicoeur has been named chief operating officer of Assistance Plus, Johnna Bowen, president and chief executive officer of the Benton-based firm announced in a press release.

Assistance Plus is a social service and medical agency with 500 employees and offices in Benton, Brunswick, and Wilton, which provides long-term home health care, developmental disabilities and behavioral health services including case management for children and adults with behavioral health disorders and intellectual disabilities throughout central Maine, according to the release.

Jolicoeur has been employed with the firm since 1998, and for the past four years has been the organization’s director of long term care. She will remain in her current office location at the company’s headquarters in Benton.

“Jill has played an integral role in helping to grow Assistance Plus to where it is now,” Bowen said in the news release. “As part of a larger succession plan which includes my retirement within the next 5-7 years, it is prudent to give Jill (and our employees) as much time learning the management side of our business while I’m still running the company.”

Kelly Negm, the agency’s human resources director, said in the release, “Assistance Plus has had considerable growth in the past 10 years and that growth has put pressure on our system. Jill has continued to show her commitment to our agency by stepping up in her role, and there is nobody who understands the company and business (aside from Johnna) better than she does. With Jill in a leadership role here at Assistance Plus, we are positioning ourselves for the future.”

Jolicoeur graduated from Lawrence High School in Fairfield, and holds an associate degree and bachelors degree in nursing from Kennebec Valley Community College and the University of Fort Kent, respectively. She is certified for training of both personal support specialist and residential medication aides. She is completing a masters in business administration with Kaplan University.

Maine Medical Partners Augusta office welcomes new physician

The office of Maine Medical Partners – MaineHealth Cardiology in Augusta has announced that Jarrod Ferrara, M.D., has joined the practice.

Ferrara earned his medical degree in 2008 at University of Massachusetts Medical School. He continued at the UMass Memorial Medical Center where he completed his residency and fellowship in cardiology, according to a press release from the medical practice.

His interests are general clinical cardiology and non-invasive cardiac imaging. Before his post-graduate education, Ferrara served two years as a volunteer for the U.S. Peace Corps in Honduras, engaging in programs to address infant mortality and HIV-AIDS health education.

Maine Medical Partners, under the MaineHealth umbrella, has offices in Augusta, Lewiston, Rockport, Scarborough, South Portland, and Watervilleits parent organization.

Norton Insurance Agency names Cathy Smith personal lines customer service representative

Cathy Smith, of Randolph, has been named a personal lines customer service representative at Norton Insurance Agency, according to a press release from Norton Insurance in Cumberland.

Smith was previously with NEEE Ltd., for two years as personal lines underwriter. She has experience as group home and auto personal lines producer with Cross Insurance. Before that, she was with Tilton Insurance for five years as account manager.

“We are pleased to have Cathy be a part of Norton,” says Jeff Begin, president of NIA in the news release. “Her broad range of experience in underwriting, sales, as well as both commercial and personal lines, makes her a valuable resource to the company.
