ANSON — Residents will consider a $1.5 million town budget Saturday at the Town Meeting.

Among the items listed in the 46-article warrant is a $5,000 matching grant that would equip the Fire Department with a pump and tanker that they can attach to an all-terrain vehicle for forest firefighting. The business portion of the meeting is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Carrabec High School.

The total budget being considered is $1,553,914, which is about $75,000 less than last year’s approved budget of $1,629,800, said the town’s administrative assistant, Triss Smith.

There are no major changes to expenses, although selectmen and the budget advisory committee are recommending that the town raise less money for capital reserve this year, she said. More money was raised last year to fund additional road work projects.

“We just want to get the message out to people to please come and participate and vote,” Smith said.

Residents also will be asked to approve spending $198,622 for administrative costs; $458,201 for the Highway Department, including $190,823 to come from taxation; $90,000 for solid waste disposal; $37,665 for ambulance service; and $27,259 for charitable organizations.
