YORK — A Waterville woman is facing shoplifting charges following her arrest today in York.

Mary M. Vashon, 60, of Waterville faces four counts of theft by unauthorized taking after she allegedly stole merchandise from a York Beach store.

Police Sgt. Thomas Baran said a search of Vashon’s vehicle revealed she may have stolen more than $500 in items from other stores in York Beach and on Route 1.

Vashon is also facing a theft of services charge for not paying for a meal she ate at a York Beach restaurant on Aug. 9. The restaurant’s staff reported that Vashon left without paying a $36.21 bill.
