Farmington revival meetings to begin

FARMINGTON — Special revival meetings with Evangelist Tom Palmer will be Sunday and Sunday, Oct. 23, at 9:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 6:30 p.m,. and Monday through Friday at 7 p.m. All meetings will be at The New Hope Baptist Church, 268 Perham St.

Palmer’s daughter and son-in-law will join him ,and there will be special meetings for the teens and children throughout the week.

Sacred Harp singing takes place Sunday

WATERVILLE — The Central Maine Sacred Harp singing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, 1 Park St. The shape-note singing is a free, participatory event, not a performance. No experience is necessary and beginners are welcome. Books are also available for loan or purchase.

There will also be a potluck meal following the singing from 5 to 6 p.m. at the church and guests are asked to bring something to share. There are kitchen facilities available at the church.

The music includes hymns, fuging tunes, anthems, and other songs in a style rooted in colonial New England, popular in Maine up until the Civil War and in areas of the rural South and West up to the present day.

Annual ladies retreatset for next Saturday

WATERVILLE — “You Grow, Girl” is the topic of the annual Central Maine Ladies Retreat at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Kennebec Valley Baptist Church, Marston Road. Neysa Semmer of Panama Beach City, Fla., will be the featured guest speaker.

Registration begins with coffee, danish and muffins at 8 a.m., followed by three one-hour sessions. The cost of the retreat is $15.

Blessed Hope Church plans dessert theater

WATERVILLE — The Blessed Hope Church annual dessert theater will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, and Saturday, Oct. 22, Friday, Oct. 28 and Saturday, Oct. 29 at Blessed Hope Church Family Life Center, 10 Pleasant St. The play is titled “The Money in Uncle Phil’s Suitcase,” and many dessert options will be available. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Oncology Comfort Care Fund at MaineGeneral Medical Center.

Annual interfaith

memorial service set

WATERVILLE — The 21st annual Interfaith Memorial Service will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, at the First Congregational Church of Waterville. All are invited to join the organization for a time of remembrance, music and to light candles in memory of loved ones and clients. Protestant, Catholic and Jewish clergy will take part in the service. A light supper will follow at the church.

Those who are currently a hospice volunteer are asked to invite bereaved clients and the family members of former Hospice clients.
