Next week’s What’s Happening will look a little different. You will still find the weekly movie review by J.P. Devine and the music column by Lucky Clark. Entertainment listings, theater line-ups and exhibits are not going away.

However, you will want to look for the section on Thursday instead of Friday. We hope the earlier publication will allow better planning for the weekend and upcoming week.

What’s being added to the section is a travel column, book reviews, book-signing events and a new look.

The Travelin’ Maine(rs), George and Linda Smith of Mount Vernon, have spent their lifetimes enjoying all that Maine has to offer. Now they’ll tell you all about it — their favorite inns, restaurants, trips, activities, experiences, and travel books and websites — in their own personal style. They’ll offer anecdotes, tips and all the details you need. So join them in exploring, experiencing and enjoying the great state of Maine.

Bill Bushnell’s reviews have appeared in Sunday’s RealLife section for years and will now be published every other week in Thursday’s What’s Happening.

A Dining Guide edition will appear periodically, and will include many dining options in central Maine.

The one thing you won’t see in the new What’s Happening is the primetime TV listings. Those listings can be found in the daily paper.

To have events included in the section, we ask that your information be emailed at least two weeks prior to the event to happening@centralmaine.com. To make the information easier to process, the event information should appear in the body of the email.

Photos should be high-resolution and can be attached as jpegs. Photos you would like considered for the cover should be sent in as soon as they are available.

Editors and designers for the section are Sharon Wood of the Kennebec Journal and Stacy Blanchet of the Morning Sentinel.
