Richmond selectmen to discuss fireworks

RICHMOND — Selectmen meet tonight to consider enacting an ordinance regulating fireworks, and to discuss the Richmond-Dresden bridge.

State law will allow consumer fireworks in Maine beginning in January. Municipalities have the right to regulate or ban fireworks within their borders.

Selectmen are scheduled to continue their discussion about regulating fireworks, and consider enacting an ordinance regulating them. Such an ordinance, if approved by selectmen, would later go to voters at Town Meeting.

Selectmen are scheduled to meet with Steve Marson, owner of Central Maine Pyrotechnics, as part of their discussion.

* discuss replacing the doors of the snack shack at Houdlette Field;

* discuss starting a community garden;

* consider approving the Post Issuance Compliance Policy Relating to Bonds Issued by the Town; and

* meet in a closed-door session to discuss confidential records.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Town Office.
