SKOWHEGAN — Supporters of Lake George Regional Park have donated more than a hundred items for Saturday’s annual auction and spaghetti supper at the Skowhegan Community Center.

The live auction starts at 7 p.m. Admission is free. There also will be a silent auction. The preview and spaghetti supper, featuring local foods, start at 5 p.m. The price of the meal is $5 per person and a family discount is available.

Auction items include a cabin rental on Oak Pond, a paddle boat, furniture, sports gear, clothing, hats, a hammock, artwork, gift certificates and two canoes — one of them a new cedar strip canoe built by the students at Skowhegan Career Center Outdoor Resources.

“Many local people and businesses have stepped up to help the park with great donations,” park director Jeff McCabe said. “We need a good turn out to finish the year strong.”

Each year roughly 20,000 visitors use the lake, public boat launch and the surrounding 320 acres for swimming and other four-season activities, McCabe said.

The park, which is owned by the state of Maine, is leased by the towns of Skowhegan and Canaan. It is managed for public use by Lake George Corp., a nonprofit organization and does not receive funding from the state.
