AUGUSTA — The winners of a $2.6 million lottery prize last month have come forward.
The Maine State Lottery Commission announced this week that the winners of the Oct. 26 Tri-State Megabucks drawing are Delbert and Pamela Arey of Harrison.
Acting lottery Director Tim Poulin says the couple has decided to claim a one-time cash payment of $1.7 million before taxes, rather than receive the full $2.6 million over 30 years – or about $89,000 annually before taxes.
The Areys bought their winning ticket at Polly’s Variety in Oxford.
Lottery officials say the couple wants to use the money for retirement and to help their children.
