AUGUSTA — The Legislature’s Appropriations Committee is meeting today to discuss the reason there’s a shortfall in the Department of Health and Human Services and the numbers behind the $221 million estimate.

The committee is scheduled to discuss the shortfall and Gov. Paul LePage’s supplemental budget this afternoon in room 228 of the State House. The budget proposes to close the gap by eliminating Medicaid coverage for 65,000 Mainers.

This morning, members are hearing a report on economic incentive programs, discussing the findings of the State Planning Office Working Group and reviewing the final report of the Streamline and Prioritize Government Services Task Force.
