FARMINGTON — The Emery Community Arts Center on the University of Maine at Farmington campus will present a duo of visual and performing arts events to kick off the new year.

The ECAC Flex Space will feature Painters, Players & Poets, a collaboration celebrating the talents of 48 Maine artists, including painters, players/composers, poets and chair makers. The opening reception will begin at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 3. The exhibit will run from Jan. 3 to Feb. 3. Donations will be accepted at the door.

Sandy River Players will present a one-act play paired with a one-act opera in the ECAC Performance Space. “The Man in the Bowler Hat,” and “The Little Sweep,” will be performed at 7:30 p.m., from Jan. 12 to 14 and 20 to 21, also at 2 p.m., Jan. 22.

Admission cost $14 for adults and $12 for seniors and children, and $10 for UMF students with I.D. Doors open 30 minutes before all performances.
