THORNDIKE — Fire destroyed the century-old Thorndike Congregational Church early this morning.
Thorndike Fire Chief Peter Quimby said the fire was reported at 4:15 a.m. and when firefighters arrived the back side of church was fully engulfed.
The two-story church is still standing but was gutted by flames.
Quimby said the cause of the fire is so far undetermined and the state Fire Marshal’s Office is also investigating.
Quimby added that the cause of the fire is not considered suspicious. There were no injuries.
