WATERVILLE — The Waterville Lions Club seeks new members interested in community service. Volunteers are needed to help organize events to benefit the Waterville community. The organization offers free eye screening to elementary students, supplies glasses to those in need and supports many causes.

Young farmers are focus of documentary
UNITY — “The Greenhorns,” a documentary about young farmers, will be shown at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the library at the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association. This will be the second film in its first Wednesday of the month movie series.

WATERVILLE — The office of Dr. Charles Ruff, DMD, PA recently sponsored the second annual Halloween candy buyback. Ruff bought back Halloween candy from local kids and families for $1 per pound.

WATERVILLE — The Elks National Foundation, is offering a scholarship opportunity for 500 students for four years.
Home safety training available Wednesday
SKOWHEGAN — Free training for contractors, landlords and homeowners on new regulations and resources on lead-poisoning prevention and smoke-free housing is available. The training is planned for 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Somerset Heart Health office, 31 Commercial St.
