Richmond downtown to get expert advice

RICHMOND — Downtown revitalization specialists will be on hand Wednesday for a workshop focused on revitalizing downtown Richmond.

The session is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday upstairs at the Old Goat at 33 Main St.

Intended to focus upon downtown revitalization opportunities for Richmond, the workshop will feature Senior Program Director Roxanne Eflin, and other advisors from the Maine Development Foundation’s Maine Downtown Center.

The workshop will conclude with the creation of a list of steps the town could take over the coming year, according to Victoria Boundy, Richmond’s community and business development director.

The Maine Downtown Network is a program of the Maine Downtown Center, which has a mission of fostering downtown revitalization resulting in business growth, job creation, housing revitalization, historic preservation and cultural enhancement. The organization helps communities in the areas of organization, design, promotion and economic restructuring.

The workshop session is hosted by the town and state Sen. Seth Goodall, D-Richmond. Goodall said the Maine Downtown Center has a proven track record in helping downtowns and small businesses grow and revitalize, citing Bath as an example.
