LITCHFIELD — Police are seeking the public’s help in finding a woman who is accused of walking out of a local store without paying for a bag full of goods.

Maine State Police Trooper Christopher Rogers said the theft happened Jan. 11 at Gowell’s Store on Route 197. The unidentified woman went to store to return a gallon of ice cream.

“She was offered an exchange for the item, then requested an application for employment,” Rogers said.

The woman then wandered through the store, filling her grocery bag with various items.

“She took her jacket off, placed it over the bag of items and walked out the store without paying for them,” Rogers said.

Store surveillance equipment was able to capture images of the woman.

Rogers asked that anyone who might be able to identify the woman to call him at Maine State Police Troop D barracks in Augusta at 624-7076.
