JAY — A Jay man faces multiple charges after police accused him of stealing 22 guns and other items from a Walker Hill Road home Friday morning.

The man, Roger Briscoe, 33, of 7 Pleasant Drive, was arrested within hours of the theft after police found the arsenal and other items, according to Jay police Chief Larry White Sr.

Following up on a lead, White said police went to Briscoe’s home and saw a chainsaw inside a truck parked in the driveway. The chainsaw had a serial number that matched the item stolen in the burglary, he said. The truck belonged to a woman, who police would not identify, who lives at the home.

Police officers armed with a search warrant found all of the stolen items at the property. The chainsaw was in the woman’s truck and one of the stolen handguns was inside another truck, which belonged to Briscoe, White said.

During a search of the home, officers found the other stolen items, including semi-automatic assault rifles, handguns, shotguns, a bottle of rum, and a laptop computer.

Briscoe is charged with burglary, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and violation of condition of release, White said. He was being held Monday morning on $5,000 cash bail at the Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington.
