WASHINGTON — President Obama’s campaign fundraising trip to Maine on March 30 will include a large event in South Portland geared toward attracting hundreds of supporters.

The price tag for attending begins at $100 and goes all the way up to $10,000.

The event at the Portland Marriott at Sable Oaks will be in the afternoon, at a time yet to be determined, according to the Obama campaign, which has posted an invitation to the event on its website.

For $100, an Obama supporter can buy a general admission ticket. For a $250 donation, one is granted “friend” status and for $500 a contributor gains entry to a “preferred section. A “co-host” who contributes or raises $10,000 gains entry to a photo reception with the president.

There also will be a second, smaller event in the Portland area that has not yet been announced. That event is expected to be more exclusive and start with a much higher entry price.

First Lady Michelle Obama was in the state in September, also to raise campaign cash for her husband’s reelection effort. She was the featured attraction at fundraisers at a home in Cape Elizabeth and at the Ocean Gateway terminal in Portland.

Obama was last in Maine in July 2010, when he and his family vacationed on Mount Desert Island.

Obama so far has raised $534,389 from Maine contributors for his 2012 reelection campaign, according to figures compiled by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, a campaign finance research organization in Washington.

Obama’s trip to Maine on March 30 will not feature an official event, just the campaign fundraisers, the White House has said.

Obama won Maine in 2008 with 58 percent of the vote to Republican John McCain’s 40 percent.
