SKOWHEGAN — Boothbay Harbor Police charged a Skowhegan man Tuesday with promoting prostitution.
The man, Reginald Bouchard, 69, was arrested Tuesday afternoon at his home on Swain Hill Road, according to Skowhegan Police Chief Michael Emmons.
He was released later on $100 cash bail, according to an intake worker at the Somerset County Jail in East Madison.
Boothbay Harbor police Officer Scott Mercier said no additional information was available because the officer in charge of the case was not on duty Tuesday.
Late Tuesday, Bouchard said he does not know why he is being charged.
“I don’t have any idea what they’re talking about,” he said. He said he will hire a lawyer.
Assistant District Attorney James Mitchell in Augusta said promoting prostitution relates to the act of providing someone with a person or a place to engage in prostitution, possibly for a profit, but not being the customer of a prostitute.
