NEW PORTLAND — Joel and Janna, brother-sister duo of Livermore Falls, will perform Saturday, March 24, at Western Mountains Baptist Church. This will be a free evening of music and worship songs. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. WMBC Youth Group will sponsor and host the event.

The concert is one piece of the WMBC Youth Weekend, where the teens and young adults of the church will exercise their leadership skills by taking on all the responsibilities of providing a place for Sunday morning worship.

The Youth Group meets from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays at the Western Mountains Baptist Church. Parents are always welcome and encouraged to attend.

Shorey Chapel services offered

INDUSTRY — Shorey Chapel, 1109 Industry Road, will offer a Maundy Thursday service at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 5, with a Seder and potluck meal in the vestry followed by the Tenebrae service in the sanctuary at 7 p.m.

Worship services will be held at 10 a.m. for Palm Sunday, April 1, and Easter Sunday, April 8.

BINGHAM — First Congregational Church will hold Easter Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. Sunday, April 8, led by guest minister the Rev. Kathleen Fitzgibbons.

A pancake breakfast will follow the service and will be served by the men of the church. All are welcome.

Dr. Ruth Calderon to visit Waterville

WATERVILLE — Dr. Ruth Calderon to discuss “Text and Context: Teaching Talmud in Tel Aviv” at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at Colby College. She also will give a talk about “The Poetics of Rabbinic Short Stories” at 10 a.m., Sunday, April 15, at Beth Israel Congregation, Kelsey Street Entrance.

Bagels and breakfast will be provided. Donation of $18 is requested.

Calderon is one of Israel’s leading famed Israeli educator and social entrepreneur trying to revive the Jewish bookshelf, Hebrew Culture and a pluralistic Israeli-Jewish identity. She serves as the chairwoman of ALMA, located at the heart of Tel Aviv, which serves as a cultural and studies center for Hebrew culture and the Jewish text.

Special event for women in Unity

UNITY — Quaker Hill Christian Church in Unity will host a special event for women titled “Time to Grow Up” at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14. Darlene Bosse of New Life Assembly of God Church in Raymond, N.H., will be the special guest speaker. She will offer an insightful message designed especially for women. This event will also offer a time of praise and worship, special prayer time and will include lunch.

This event is free and all ladies are welcome. No nursery available.
