King_Angus is dead, but with the speed that social media is known for, the anonymous critic of the former governor is back as King_Angus_II.

The Twitter account King_Angus, which was registered by a critic of Senate candidate and former governor Angus King, was suspended for violating the social media site’s rules against impersonating someone else.

That’s according to King_Angus II, apparently the same anonymous critic, in a tweet issued this morning. The tweet notes that King_Angus followed Twitter’s rules allowing parody but that the account was still suspended.

Twitter’s rules say: “You may not impersonate others through the Twitter service in a manner that does or is intended to mislead, confuse, or deceive others … Accounts with clear intent to deceive or confuse are prohibited as impersonation accounts and subject to suspension.”

The parody policy says “we do not actively monitor users’ content and will not edit or remove user content” but does give instruction on how to file a complaint.

King_Angus_II speculated that there must have been a complaint, which he or she assumes came from the King campaign, according to one tweet.

The description of the account user reads in part: “This is (still) a parody.”

A spokeswoman for King’s Senate campaign, Crystal Canney, said she would look into whether the campaign asked the account to be suspended. She was unaware that an account King_Angus_II had started tweeting.

Just before 9 a.m., the campaign’s real twitter account – AngusKing2012 – posted its first tweet referring people to the campaign’s facebook page. That twitter account has six followers.

King_Angus_II had three followers before noon.
