WESTBROOK — Maine’s top elected officials were on hand today at the groundbreaking for a $35 million expansion at Idexx Laboratories Inc. in Westbrook.

Gov. Paul LePage said the new 107,700-square-foot, energy-efficient administrative building will provide space to support up to 300 new employees.

In addition, more than 100 new trade jobs will be generated regionally to support the construction phase.

U.S. Sen. Susan Collins and Reps. Chellie Pingree and Michael Michaud also joined Idexx CEO Jonathan Ayers to announce the project.

Idexx develops diagnostics and information technology solutions for animal health and water and milk quality.
