KITTERY — A teenage student at Traip Academy has been charged with bringing a gun to school last week.
Kittery police learned about the incident when another child’s parent called to report it, said a release from Chief Paul Callaghan.
The boy did not threaten anyone with the gun and nobody was targeted for harm, the release said.
The boy brought the gun to school on March 27 and showed it to a few other students.
“Although the intent of the student who carried the handgun to school was not to harm or threaten any students, it is considered a very serious incident,” the chief’s release said.
The student has been charged with an offense that will be handled in juvenile court. The release did not identify the student or list the specific charge.
