AUGUSTA — Koussinoc Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution of Augusta recently honored its American History Essay Contest winners and Good Citizen.
The essay topic was “Young America Takes a Stand: the War of 1812.” All students at St. Michael School in Augusta, the contest winners were:
* William Green, son of Renee and Gene Green, was the sixth grade chapter winner. William was also second place winner for the state for sixth grade.
* Andrew Caron, son of Jon and Kerry Caron, was the first place chapter winner and the first place state winner for the seventh grade.
* John Parent was the chapter and state first place winner for the eighth grade. John also placed first in the Northeast Division, which includes all of New England and New York. He is the son of Michael and Jennifer Parent.
* Eleanora Ashley French, a senior at Erskine Academy, received the Good Citizen Award. She is the daughter of Crystal Dow.
