National Drug Take Back Day has announced locations accepting medications for safe disposal from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Locations include the Augusta Police Station, 33 Union St., Augusta; Kennebec Sheriff’s Office, 125 State St., Augusta; Belgrade Transfer Station, 6 Manchester Road, Belgrade; Sheepscot Valley Health, 47 Main St., Coopers Mills; Gardiner Police Station, 6 Church St., Gardiner; Hallowell Police Station, 1 Winthrop St., Hallowell; Litchfield Transfer Station, 2400 Hallowell Road, Litchfield; Monmouth Transfer Station, Route 135, Monmouth; Readfield/Wayne Transfer Station, North Road, Readfield; Richmond Senior Center, 314 Front St., Richmond; Sproul Block Retirement Homes, Friendship Street, Waldoboro; and the Winthrop Transfer Station, Route 202, Winthrop.

Participants can safely dispose of prescription and non-prescription outdated and unwanted medications, liquid pharmaceutical products, over-the-counter substances, and medications for pets. Needles and syringes will not be accepted.

There will be no questions asked or requests for information regarding medications. Participants are encouraged to remove all personal identifying information from prescription labels and should never give medications to anyone other than a uniformed law enforcement officer.
