Waterville stabbing victim being treated in Portland
WATERVILLE — A man stabbed twice in the back early Sunday on Spring Street remained at Maine Medical Center in Portland Monday and police are continuing to investigate the attack, according to Deputy police Chief Charles Rumsey.

Scholarships available for Starks students
STARKS — The Helen Reed Scholarship Committee has announced two scholarships valued at $200 each for Starks residents who plan to continue their education beyond secondary school. Reed, a teacher in several different Maine communities and a long-time resident of Starks, passed away in 1995. Reed provided for the establishment of two scholarships to be awarded annually to a traditional and non-traditional student who plans to further his/her education at a technical, undergraduate, graduate or professional school.
