WESTBROOK – Police say the death of a man from a gunshot early Friday morning at a Brown Street apartment is not considered suspicious and the man’s identity will not be released.
Lt. Michael Nugent said Friday morning that a 29-year-old man died after shooting himself inside the apartment. The shooting was reported at 3:30 a.m. and other people were inside the apartment at the time, police said.
The man died at the scene after attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful, according to police.
A man standing outside 222 Brown St. Friday morning, who identified himself only as the victim’s uncle, said the family would not comment.
