WATERVILLE — A Clinton man was arrested Monday on charges he stole two rifles and accessories during a Pleasant Hill Drive home burglary.

Donald Veilleux, 28, of 66 Spring St., Apt. 2, is charged with burglary, theft, possession of a firearm by a felon and violation of conditions of release, according to Deputy police Chief Charles Rumsey.

Police were notified May 5 by a Pleasant Hill Drive resident who said that when he arrived home, he discovered two firearms, ammunition and some firearms magazines were missing, Rumsey said.

“Through the process of the investigation, including finding Mr. Veilleux and speaking with him, we were able to find out where the firearms were and recover them,” he said. “They had been sold to third parties and we were able to find them and recover them.”

Detective Chris Paradis arrested Veilleux at noon Monday at the police station, according to Rumsey. He was unable to make the $14,000 cash bail and was taken to Kennebec County jail in Augusta, Rumsey said. He is scheduled to appear in Kennebec County Superior Court July 10.
