SKOWHEGAN — The General Federation of Women’s Clubs/Skowhegan, which are Skowhegan Woman’s Club, Semper Fidelis Club, and The Dove Society joined the residents of the Redington Memorial Home to celebrate the Kentucky Derby recently.

The celebration was the culmination of three years of fundraising by the clubs to raise $10,000 for the Skowhegan Free Public Library’s restoration project. At this event, the check was presented to Patricia Dickey, chairwoman of the library’s fundraising project, and Dale Jandreau, the librarian.

The GFWC/Skowhegan Three received the GFWC Maine Community Improvement Contest Award for this project at the GFWC Maine Spring Convention held May 10 and 11 in Orono.
