AUGUSTA — Maine Veterans’ Home recently introduced Rhona Suga, RN, as the Home’s new director of nursing. Suga will oversee the clinical services, including a 40-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation unit, a 40-bed long-term care unit, a 40-bed long-term care dementia unit, and a 30-bed residential care dementia unit.
Suga has been employed at the Home since 2002. She was previously the Home’s skilled nursing and rehabilitation unit manager.
She was named to the position in March. In addition to being a registered nurse, she is also a certified Basic Life Support instructor through the American Red Cross and a Hospice and Palliative Nursing Association/VA approved educator.
Suga lives in Vassalboro with her husband, Rick, and three children, Dennis, Justin and Autumn. They own and operate a dairy farm and a trucking business.
