Head Start, preschool applications available
SKOWHEGAN -- Applications for preschool for the 2012-13 school year can be completed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Millstream Elementary in Norridgewock today, Canaan Elementary Friday, and at North Elementary in Skowhegan Tuesday, May 1. The Regional School Unit 54 preschool program in collaboration with the Kennebec Valley Community Action Program/Head Start provides children ages 3 to 5, with children turning 4 before Oct. 15, having first priority.

Warming Center will soon be Cooling Center
NORRIDGEWOCK -- The First Congregational Church of Norridgewock will close its warming center for May and June. It will resume in July as a cooling center and be open for the elderly, homeless and fixed income, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
