AUGUSTA — Cony High School has named the students ranked in the top 10 of the class of 2024. Students are listed in rank order.

Samuel Goldey Submitted photo

Samuel Goldey, valedictorian, is the son of Allen and Anya Goldey of Augusta. He is a four-year member of the Cony High School varsity cross country and indoor/outdoor track teams, serving as captain his junior and senior years. In 2023 he was a member of the Northern Maine Class B Boys Cross Country Championship Team. He has also been named to KVAC All Conference his sophomore, junior and senior year.

Goldey is president of the National Honor Society, president of the senior class, a member of Key Club serving as vice-president junior and senior years, member of the Chizzle Wizzle Executive Committee serving as president his senior year, and is the social media manager for Cony Athletics.

He received the Rensselaer Medal, and earned the College Board PSAT National Rural and Small Town Recognition Award. Most recently he was recipient of the 2024 Maine Principal Association Award for Cony.

Goldey plans to attend Tufts University to study civil engineering.

Eben Buck, salutatorian, is the son of Trevor Buck and Angela Figoli, both of Augusta. He is a four-year member of the varsity cross country and indoor/outdoor track teams.

Buck is a member of the Math Team, National Honor Society, Key Club and Chizzle Wizzle, performing as an end. Buck is a member of the Cony High School Madrigals and was selected to represent Cony at the All State Music Festival, where he performed as first violin for the past three years and the District Three Music Festival in Choir for one year. He was recognized as an AP Scholar with Honors through the College Board. He is a member of the Kennebec Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Buck plans to attend Bowdoin College to major in math and computer engineering.

Maya Gould, first honor, is the daughter of Lane and Jessie Gould of Vassalboro. She is an Olympia Leader through the Olympia Snowe Women’s Leadership Institute, member of the National Honor Society where she serves as event coordinator, member of Key Club, and has served on the Chizzle Wizzle Executive Committee, most recently as the vice president. She has also been a two-year manager of the girls varsity volleyball team.

Gould is a member of the Cony High School Madrigals and has been named to the District Three Music Festival Choir and recognized as an All State Music Festival Musician. In 2023, she was elected by the student body to serve as the student body representative to the School Board.

Gould plans to attend the University of Maine at Orono to major in music education.

Bryan Ouellette Submitted photo

Bryan F. Ouellette, second honor, is the son of Bryan and Michelle Ouellette of Augusta. He is a member of the varsity soccer and varsity tennis teams, where he was captain his junior and senior year.

In the winter, Ouellette serves on the Chizzle Wizzle Set Design and Tech teams. He is a member of the National Honor Society and a Bates College High School Scholar. In 2023, he was nominated to Dirigo State, where he was voted to serve as Secretary of State, and received the Princeton Book Award. He has volunteered with the National Guard Family Program.

Ouellette plans to attend Furman University to major in pre-law.

Abigail Bucknam Submitted photo

Abigail Bucknam is the daughter of Chelsee Bean and Ryan Bucknam, both of Augusta. She is a member of the Chizzle Wizzle Set Design Team and was the Pin Design Winner for the 2024 Production. She is a member of the German Club.

In the summer 2023, Bucknam was awarded the opportunity to study German in Cologne for three weeks through the Goethe Institut. She has also earned the Seal of Biliteracy in German.

Buckman plans to attend the University of Maine at Augusta to major in studio art.

Martin Ferrusca Submitted photo

Martin Ferrusca is the son of Efrain Ferrusca and Stacie Haines, both of Augusta. He is a member of the soccer and tennis teams as well as indoor track. He helped design the Chizzle Wizzle set and has been a member of the outing club and participated in the German exchange program. Ferrusca volunteered time as a coach and referee for Augusta Recreation soccer and tennis as well as volunteering for Maine Land Trusts and environmental organizations.

Ferrusca earned the Boy’s Soccer MVP award and was named KVAC 1st team all conference and captain during the 2023 season as well as the KVAC all academic team. His tennis achievements include MVP and KVAC all conference for the 2021 season, MVP 2022 season, and being named team captain in the 2023 season. His indoor track awards include KVAC 2nd Team all conference.

Ferrusca plans to attend the University of Vermont to study mechanical engineering.

Sequora Kelley is the daughter of Sherrie Kelley and Brian Kelley, both of Augusta. She is a member of the volleyball and swimming team, and a member of the Cony Madrigals and Chizzle Wizzle performances.

Kelley has devoted many hours to community service, including the Augusta Food Bank, Baptist church, Colonial theater, Farrington Elementary School, and Kennebec Valley Humane Society. She was a varsity captain of the volleyball team and the KVAC all-academic volleyball team. She was president of the Cony Choir, an end in Chizzle Wizzle, a member of the National Honor Society, and an Olympia Snowe leader.

Kelley plans to attend the University of Maine at Augusta to study veterinary technology.

Parker Sergent Submitted photo

Parker Sergent is the son of Vikki and Nate Sergent of Augusta. He has been a member and captain of the basketball team (four-year varsity), member and captain of the football team (two year varsity) and a member of the track team at Cony High School. Sergent scored his 1,000 point in basketball during his senior year and was a semi-finalist for the Fitzpatrick Award in football.

Sergent volunteers to help run youth sports clinics, camps, and training sessions, and is involved in scorekeeping, clocks, and volunteering in the concession stands. In addition, Parker was awarded the Dartmouth Book Award for academic excellence and has been a high honor roll student.

Sergent plans to attend Thomas College to study sports management and play basketball.

Tyler Pelletier Submitted photo

Tyler Pelletier is the son of James and Hollie Pelletier of Augusta. He has been a varsity member of the football, baseball, hockey and cross country teams, being awarded the best teammate award in football and baseball, as well as named to the KVAC Football All Academic Team.

Pelletier has held several leadership roles at Cony, including co-president of Key Club, vice president of National Honor Society and vice president of Class Council, and has participated in math team, outing club, and Chizzle Wizzle. In addition, Pelletier has attended the Seeds of Peace summer program, as well as the Cohen Institute for Leadership and Public Service. Pelletier has spent many hours volunteering for Viles Arboretum, the Augusta Little League program, Wreaths Across America, the Red Cross, Augusta Food Bank and the Cohen Center.

Pelletier plans to attend the University of New England to study medical biology and pre-medicine.

Raymond Dineen Submitted photo

Raymond Dineen is the son of Shelby Thibodeau of Augusta. He has been a member of Cony’s hockey, golf, lacrosse teams and was named All State Rookie in Hockey. He has also participated in the Key Club and Math team.

In addition, Dineen has volunteered several hours at the Augusta Food Bank. He was recognized as an AP Scholar by the College Board, and awarded the University of Maine Pulp and Paper Scholarship.

Dineen plans to attend the University of Maine to study chemical engineering.
