SKOWHEGAN — Authorities today  launched searches by air, water and ground in an effort to find a Skowhegan man missing since early Saturday.
Jeff Godin, 42, was last seen at 1 a.m., leaving South Side Tavern, according to police.
“We’re in consultation with the Warden Service,” Deputy police Chief Dale Lancaster said early this afternoon. “The Warden Service plane has been in the air, we have some ground searching and the Fire Department has been in the water.”
Godin, of Beech Street, apparently had been drinking at South Side, located at the corner of Waterville Road and Main Street, late Friday, May 25.
His friends said Thursday that it was unlike him to leave his dog, Taz, behind, He spoke to his mother on a regular basis, but she has not heard from him.
Lancaster said the Fire Department launched a boat today in the Kennebec and searched both sides of the river from Skowhegan to Hinckley, in Fairfield. Maine Warden Service officials and police officers searched by ground. Searches were conducted on Norridgewock Avenue, as well as in the area of Pleasant and Elm streets.
Flyers displaying Godin’s picture have been posted around town.
He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with the words, “Half Step Down.” He is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighs about 165 pounds and has brown hair and eyes.
Anyone with information about Godin is asked to call Skowhegan police at 474-6908.
