SKOWHEGAN — Carleton and Lucille Whittemore of Skowhegan celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on May 12, 2012, with a dinner, attended by family members, at the Heritage House in Skowhegan.

Mr. Whittemore and the former Lucille Charrier were married May 16, 1942, at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Skowhegan by Father Ouellette.

Carleton and Lucille owned and operated Whittemore’s Restaurant in Skowhegan for 37 years before retiring in March of 1979.

The couple have two sons, Carleton Whittemore Jr. and wife Jacqueline of Liverpool, N.Y. and Darrell Whittemore and wife Judith of Skowhegan; one grandson, Wade Whittemore and his wife Dee Dee; and three great-grandchildren, Breeanna, Nikolas and Lydia.

Guests attended from Liverpool, N.Y., Manchester, N.H., Auburn and Skowhegan, Maine.
