This is the first letter I have written for a candidate for state representative in my 40 years’ involvement in Maine politics.
Karen Kusiak, running in District 84 (Fairfield, Smithfield, Rome), is my co-worker at Colby. On committees, she is a problem solver, a doer. Others may talk and confront; Kusiak works to solve problems.
She cares about this community. As one who teaches others to be educators, Kusiak is in a unique position to serve our state. She has been committed to the college’s mentoring program, Colby Cares About Kids, which is so important throughout central Maine.
Her work with the public schools as a key member of our education program has been outstanding.
She has shown the same skills and success in Fairfield, as a member of the school board and concerned citizen. She is exactly the type of citizen legislator Maine needs.
