WALES — Regional School Unit 4’s $17.6 million budget for the 2012-2013 fiscal year was approved Wednesday at a public meeting of the three towns that make up the district, Litchfield, Sabattus and Wales.

The warrant article allowing the district to spend more than the state minimum on essential programs and services was approved 56-26.

Voters at the meeting at Oak Hill High School attempted to reduce spending on transportation and adult education, but those amendments failed, according to Superintendent James Hodgkin.

The budget goes for validation at the polls in the three towns on Tuesday.
