WINTHROP — The town of Winthrop recently announced the return of Concerts at Norcross Point, sponsored by Winthrop Area Federal Credit Union and Kennebec Savings Bank. The concerts are planned for 2-4 p.m. Sundays at the gazebo just off of Bowdoin Street. One Saturday concert, 1-3 p.m., will coincide with the annual Winthrop Art Walk on Aug. 18. The Saturday event will feature Winthrop High School class of 1974 graduate Pam Baker and her blues band.

All concerts are free and offer a family-oriented atmosphere at the edge of Maranacook Lake. Listeners are welcome to boat in and anchor offshore for a fun day in the sun. Amateur songwriters/performers are welcome Sunday at the only open-mic event this summer, where a public address system will be provided. Norcross Point is handicapped accessible with a paved walkway and toilet facilities.

* The Maranacook String Band, bluegrass and beyond, June 24;

* Nasty Habits, classic rock and roll covers, July 1;!/NASTYHABITSBAND.


* The Veayo Twins, local award-winning sisters, July 8.

* Simons and Goodwin, a unique folk mix of covers and originals, July 15;

* Make up date, July 22.

* Stan Davis, songs of timeless wisdom, July 29;

* The Colwell Brothers Band, Aug. 5;


* KPAC Jazz Band, conducted by Mr. Charles Milazzo, Aug. 12.

* The Pam Baker Blues Band, coincides with the Winthrop Art Walk, 1-3 p.m., Aug. 18.

* Ampersand, jazz, funk, disco, classic rock, dancing welcome; Aug. 19;

* Make up date or TBA, Aug. 26.
