She took personal leave in May 2011. Selectmen chose not to re-appoint Kelley as clerk after her position expired June 30.

Leotsakos, who is chairman of the board, has been serving the 15 months remaining on the three-year term of former Selectman Tanya Condon. She won the seat in a special election March, 2011.

Two RSU 12 towns to explore leaving

WHITEFIELD — Two of Regional School Unit 12’s eight towns will explore the possibility of leaving the school district.

Voters in Wiscasset and Westport Island approved filing petitions with RSU 12 to form withdrawal committees that will draft withdrawal agreements and develop cost estimates for other school district configurations.

Each town’s selectmen will appoint to a selectman, a representative of the group that filed the petition and a member of the general public to the committee. The RSU 12 board will appoint a member from each town to the town’s committee.

Voters must approve the withdrawal agreement in a separate referendum.
