MECHANIC FALLS — Police have charged a Mechanic Falls man they say threatened to harm his girlfriend and prompted a 90-minute standoff with officers.

Police say 21-year-old Devin Stevens is scheduled to make his first appearance in Lewiston District Court on July 11.

Chief Jeff Goss tells the Sun Journal that Stevens was armed with a gun and threatened to kill his girlfriend at his home late Sunday night before he was subdued by officers using a stun gun just after midnight Monday. No one else was hurt.

Stevens was taken to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center for psychological evaluation, and was charged and bailed from the hospital Monday.
