JEFFERSON — Seven of the first 16 students to graduate from Maine Master Naturialist Program will offer their services on Friday at Hidden Valley Nature Center.
Two different programs are being offered by these graduates. From 10 a.m. to noon, a group from the class will lead a walk of center’s trails and talk about whatever is of interest to the group and about which someone in the group has knowledge — trees, ferns, wetlands, the bog, vernal pools, insects, lichens and the relationships between them; $5 suggested donation.
The afternoon program, from 1-4 p.m., is “Nature Journaling — Explore Your Feelings about the Natural World Around You,” with Sharon Gallant, a high school science teacher. Individuals will learn about the experience of keeping a nature journal, practice the verbal pieces, as well as the drawing aspects, and then spend time recording observations as they explore some of center’s special places. No experience necessary, just a natural curiosity. Suggested donation is $10 for center members, $15 all others.
