Wayne’s Farmers’ Market 4th of July event Saturday
WAYNE — The 2012 Town of Wayne Farmers’ Market has opened for the season. Market hours are 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays. Many of last year’s vendors are returning with vegetables, herbs, meat, perennials, baked goods, wool, goat’s milk soap, blueberries, flowers, and eggs, according to a news release.
Pesky beavers cause problem in Belgrade
BELGRADE — The town will continue removing troublesome beavers that build their homes in culverts, a problem that has gotten worse this year and can lead to problems for landowners and costly road repairs.

With signs, planking, Winthrop students promote new ‘We Play Outside’ initiative
WINTHROP — Motorists throughout Winthrop will begin seeing roadside signs urging them to slow down because people are playing outside as part of the town’s latest efforts to promote outdoor recreation and wellness. The signs are part of ongoing efforts through the school district’s service learning program to engage students of all ages in the town’s “We Play Outside” initiatives, according to a news release.
