ORFORD, N.H. — The New Hampshire Department of Fish and Game says crews rescued a hiker who fell and injured herself on Mount Cube in the town of Orford.

Officials say 47-year-old Christina Brownell, of Hanover, was hiking on the Appalachian Trail with her family when she fell about a half mile from the summit of the mountain.

She was unable to walk and Brownell’s husband called for help.

Five conservation officers got help from Upper Valley Search and Rescue and members of the Orford Police and Fire Departments who carried Brownell down two miles of steep, rocky trail.

They reached an ambulance at about 7 p.m. Brownell was taken to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon for treatment.
