OYSTER BAY, N.Y.  — FBI divers and police officials in New York are working to retrieve a yacht that capsized and sank, killing three children.

The 34-foot Kandi Won is about 60 feet below the surface, off the north shore of Long Island.

It sank July 4 with 27 people onboard following a fireworks display.

The command center is at the Theodore Roosevelt Park marina in Oyster Bay. The water there was calm today. An American flag blew gently at the end of the pier.

Investigators are trying to determine if the boat was overcrowded. They also hope to learn if the vessel had lifejackets for every passenger. The operator has said a big wave tipped the vessel over as a storm approached.
