Democratic Party leaders worry about losing relevancy as elections near

After losing the race for governor and both houses of the Legislature two years ago, the pressure is on to win at the polls this fall. Party leaders say they are confident, in part because of hard lessons learned in 2010 and in part because Gov. Paul LePage and Republicans have mobilized the Democratic base.
But there are some signs that the state’s largest political party may be struggling to bounce back.

If gay marriage OK’d, would it be taught in schools?

If gay marriage were to be taught in our schools, wouldn’t school boards have to approve of it? The dictionary clearly defines marriage, so what’s there to teach? Why would we expose our children to just gay marriage? Why shouldn’t children continue to learn about marriage the way they always have, at home and at church and at no cost to taxpayers?
