Firefighters were called to 665 Alexander Reed Road in Richmond shortly before 9 a.m. today to respond to a trailer fire.

Richmond Fire Chief Matt Roberge said the fire caused “substantial damage” although no one was home at the time and no one was hurt fighting the fire. Mutual aid was provided by Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Litchfield and Dresden, he said.

Firefighters extinguished the fire in 20 to 30 minutes. The cause is unknown, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office will assist in an investigation on Monday, Roberge said.
